Thea’s Highlights

This month promises to be exciting and fun. We will be finishing our art books and have a great keepsake to take home. The last page of our art books will be a self portrait. The students will get to choose what medium they would like to work with for this!

I’m hoping also to do some tie-dyeing, if weather permits. This will get us outside enjoying nature and the fresh air while we’re being creative! I can’t wait! I hope you have a great month!

During May in phonics, we will be learning about ‘r’ controlled vowels as in farm, dirt, hurt, cord. We will also be learning about the ou, ow, oi, oy, and all (as in ball) sounds.

In math, we will be reviewing what we have learned throughout the year. We will review telling time, recognizing and counting money, measuring and the correct tools to use for measuring, fractions, writing and recognizing numbers, and addition and subtraction.

We will continue practicing for graduation. It is hard to believe there are less than 4 weeks until graduation. The date for graduation is May 23. The last day of kindergarten is May 30.

As one of the songs we will be singing for graduation says “It seems we’ve just begun and now we’re almost done.” This year has gone by very quickly. I have enjoyed the privilege of teaching your children. I will miss them very much when they move onto first grade.

Wow, we can’t believe that school is almost over. The year has flown by and we have learned so much about ourselves, our town, animals, and lots of bugs! We will finish the school year learning about the ocean and beach. We hope your children have enjoyed all the activities as much as we have.

Remember to sign up for our Mother’s Day Tea in honor of our special moms and grandmas. It will be held at 9:00a.m. on Thursday, May 8th. Our graduation day ceremony will be Friday, May 23rd at 11:00a.m. at Crossway Church with a picnic following at Garfield Park.

Thank you for a great school year. We have all enjoyed working and playing with your children.

Howdy from the Nursery! Wow, it ‘s almost summer! We are very thankful that warm and sunny days are ahead. Hooray for outside time!

The Nursery is also in the process of renovation—come in and check us out. We got Sesame Street characters, cow jumping over the moon, and new curtains and carpet coming.

A warm welcome to Lilly R. and Bryanna S. to our Vision Nursery. Also a very Happy Birthday to Anthony G. and Kenny J. who turn the big #2! I cannot believe my little guy is going to be 2! Time flies way too fast!

We like to wish everyone a very safe and fun summer!

 Love,

 Joy for the Nursery Crew

Wow! This year has certainly flown by. I feel like it was just yesterday that I became the three’s teacher. It’s May already and you know what that means….GRADUATION! Can you believe your little ones will be off to the fours class soon!

Our classroom will be a buzz with excitement this month as we prepare for our graduation. We’ve already been practicing our part for the graduation performance. We’re doing an amazing job I might add! We will also be working on a top secret graduation surprise for all those who supported us throughout the year.

We also have “Morning with Mom” scheduled for Tuesday, May 6th. I can’t wait to see you all for breakfast with your little darlings. It promises to be lots of fun! I know they will enjoy it.

To add to all this, we have one last monthly theme. This month we will learn “All about the sand and seas.” We will have several craft projects to coordinate with this theme. Of course one of which will be displayed on our first bulletin board.

Along with our new theme, we will learn about 2 new colors: black and brown. Our new shape feature will be an octagon. Of course we will have all new visuals to support all of our featured topics. Good news, we’ve finished all of our alphabet. This gives us all month to review them.

I get a little teary-eyed as I think of this year as coming to an end. I just wanted you all to know what a wonderful year I’ve had teaching our little ones. They bring a smile to my face each and everyday! Each and every boy and girl in my class will forever hold a special place in my heart as my first preschool class. I only hope they have had as much fun as I have.

God bless!

Now that the weather has turned beautiful, the students are having a hard time focusing on their lessons. They ask me several times during class when we are going outside. They can’t wait to use the playground equipment (especially the new airplane), balls, and bikes. However, we have a few things yet to learn inside before we head outside each school day.

I am very pleased with how the students are writing both first and last names, and how they know their addresses! Way to go kids!

In May, we will be learning our phone numbers, and more about spring. We will also be getting ready for graduation by learning new songs and a poem about what we learned in preschool. We will be continuing our review of the alphabet, colors, numbers, coins, etc.
